The state of Colorado was named after the the Colorado River, known for its spectacular canyons  runs 1,450 miles all the way down to Mexico. The diverse terrain of Colorado includes not only the headwaters of the Colorado River but also the dramatic Rocky Mountains to the west and Great Plains to the east. Denver, also known as “the mile-high city” is the capital of Colorado. Nested to the east of the Rocky Mountains it is a sophisticated metropolitan area with access to the great outdoors.
