There is one school party each year for which I make a homemade healthy treat, watermelon hearts. Here’s to my one and only Pinterest project!
I am no Pinterest mom. I work a full-time job and am primary caregiver to two children. When it comes to school parties I am usually the first one to sign up so that I can bring juice boxes. The juice boxes are conveniently stored for just the occasion so that I can simply move them from the basement to beside my daughter’s backpack and send them in with her. With one exception… When my daughter was in kindergarten, before I had given up on being a crafty mom, I located some holiday cookie cutters. I have no idea where they came from as I am quite sure that I have never made cookies that required a roller and cookie cutters. But there they were, one with a cute heart shape. I do try to feed my kids healthy, and sometimes even succeed. So I thought “Perfect!”, I will make watermelon hearts with that heart shaped cookie cutter. It was easy, and worked! Now there is one school party each year for which I make this homemade healthy treat of watermelon hearts.
